When Admitted	Present

Master Shankar, age 13yrs and Weighing about 13kgs was taken into DESIE institutional care centre in 2008 when he was identified by DESIRE Staff as an orphan. Shankar’s parents were daily wages earners and had died due to AIDS. Shankar being the only child, being HIV + and orphan had to suffer a lot in terms of physical, psychological and social insecurity with stigma.

After intervention, it was found that Shankar has never been to school. At DESIRE he was enrolled for education for L.K.G. DESIRE Society took special care for his psychological and physical needs and helped him by providing medical treatment and counseling.

Now, when we took at Shankar after a year he is now weighing 25 kgs and has finished his class one and in total health. Now Shankar wants to go to an English Medium School for his educations and DESIRE Society defenetly wants his dreams to come true and is working on it.
